Greetings and Salutations!
Welcome to www.sonsofnothing.com, our band's little
online home away from home. Anything and everything you want to know
about us and our musical adventures (and a fair bit that I'm sure you
don't necessarily want to know) will be chronicled here.
I just want to start out by giving gargantuan props to
our webmasters Kahn
& Fozz,
who have been instrumental in making this site a
reality. Not only have they put in hours upon hours of their own time on a
voluntary basis to get us up and running, but they have also had to cope
with my uncanny technical ineptitude. For example: attempting to perform a
simple update function, I accidentally wiped out the ENTIRE SITE - not
just once, but twice. Sorry guys...I would like to be able to
promise you that such blunders will never occur again, but....
Ok, here's The Story So Far:
The name Sons Of Nothing seems appropriate for this band,
which did seem to evolve all by itself out of the ether. I'll probably get
around to a more detailed history sometime in the future, but for now,
here's the condensed version: In late 1999 I began work on a series of
rough demo recordings to sell my songs. At the time, there were no plans
to take the process any further than that...but the musicians assembled
for the sessions enjoyed the experience, one thing lead to another, and
the result is the full-fledged album which will be released soon, and the full-time band which will be playing out to promote
it.
Our first gig is one week from tonight (see our RockShow page) and we're
currently immersed in rehearsal chores - picking songs, trying to iron out
the arrangements and get things running as smoothly as we can. We all have experience playing live, and even have played together in various
combinations. However, this is the first time that these
particular musicians have played these particular songs under
this particular name, so we're all feeling some of that nervous
excitement in addition to the usual excited excitement...or something
like that. :)
There is more to come on this site in the near future - more news, more
pics, more media, more band info and more reports from the inside. I
invite you to check in often, drop us an e-mail with your
questions/comments, come to a show and bring a friend or ten. If you
haven't yet signed up for the Sons-Announce list, it's the best way best
way to stay in the loop, so go for it!
bye for now...
your humble correspondent,
Thom Bowers
